Lochinvar Cottage
Description

Lochinvar Cottage is a beautifully restored stone built cottage set in a stunning location on the banks of its own 85 acre loch in the heart of the Glankens, north of Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway. The loch is stocked with brown trout and fly fishing is available to those staying at the cottage. Lochinvar also has access to more private trout fishing on Mossroddich Loch in Dalry just a few miles away.

Centrally located for the 7 stanes mountain bike centres and on a national cycling byway, it is ideal for cyclists as well as walkers, fishing enthusiasts and families. The Galloway activity centre and Loch Ken water ski club are only a few miles away on the banks of Loch Ken. Non motorised water activities are permitted on the private Loch at the cottage.

The cottage is situated on an unclassified road in a quiet and very peaceful rural situation just 3 miles from St Johns Town of Dalry. The pretty village has a charming main street of mainly painted harled houses and a range of convenience stores, a post office, bank (restricted opening times) and a hotel. The village of New Galloway is only three miles further down the road offering additional village store and selection of cafés / pubs.

Immediately in front of the cottage is a fabulous brick built barbecue area offering wonderful views over the loch.

The area is rich in wild life. The loch attracts Swans, Grey Lag Geese, Grey Herons and is home to two Great Crested Grebes. We also have a local Barn Owl that frequents our garden. There are Eagles, Buzzards, Red Squirrels, Red Dear and even Stoats. The ‘Galloway Red Kite Trail’ around Lock Ken is only a few miles away
