Walked Up Shooting in Scotland
Rough / walked up shooting is possibly the most rewarding of all types of game shooting testing the sportsman’s fitness and agility to hunt wild game over mixed countryside. A mixed bag rather than numbers is often the priority to offer the sportsman a real experience of traditional shooting over well trained gundogs amongst some of Scotland’s most scenic and diverse countryside.
Pheasants, partridges, snipe, wood pigeon and woodcock as well as rabbits are all acceptable quarry on the day which often can be concluded with an evening flight for wild duck on hill lochs and ponds which include mallard, teal and widgeon.
Walked up shooting is normally available for parties of four to eight guns who wish to enjoy a more tradition style of shooting, however, some estates and landowners may be willing to take smaller groups. Venues may vary considerably in terms of the nature of the day some offering small mini drives to add to the occasion.
